The Script have announced the Satellites World Tour with a passage through Portugal in 2025.
After 20 billion streams, 12 million record sales, six nr. 1 albums in the UK and two singles reaching platinum in the USA, The Script are back with their new album Satellites, released on August 16, 2024.
"Both Ways", the first single from this album, shows the Irish band moving forward with a new confident energy, with vibrant hip-hop and funk rhythms, providing an irresistible vibration on the dancefloor, complemented with Danny's vocals. The result is frenetically fun, an explosive cocktail different from everything that The Script have released so far.
Glen Power says: “"Both Ways" has a lot of energy, and maybe it is not exactly what people would expect from us. But we are The Script, and now we have something to prove: that there is life and light after the darkness. That's why we are arriving so strongly with this music."
Promising to pay homage to their friend Mark Sheehan by continuing the band they built together, the leadsinger Danny O'Donoghue returned to the studio and experimented different ways: using 808s and exploring sons inspired by R&B, focusing on happier sounds, and cowriting with successful producers like Steve Robson (Rascal Flatts, Take That) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), as well as the band member Glen Power. The result was Satellites, a collection of profoundly inspiring songs that forges a new future for the band, simultaneously reminding everyone that, although Mark is not longer here, he continues being a vital part of everything they do. Danny explains: "The album cover is the silhouette of myself, Glen and Ben Sargeant, our bass, who has been with us from the beginning. Then we have a hooded silhouette, because Mark's spirit is still here. It will always be, but it is also a greeting to the future. The Script will never be the same. We are just trying to continue doing what we think is the next right step: keep doing good music.”
After having come together for some concerts in 2023, in collective mourning and a communion of joy with The Script family, the band is about to return onto the big stages after this October. This tour will take them to play for over 2 million fans all over the world this year, stopping in Portugal in 2025.
