"Illuminate", the successor to the acclaimed debut album "Handwritten", confirmed the success of Shawn Mendes, the son of a Portuguese father. The singer-songwriter has already revealed the first single off his new record, "Treat You Better" and in just a few hours the song went to #1 in 36 countries.The new record was produced by Gosling and composer Tobias Jesso Jr. and includes a special appearance by musician John Mayer.

Mendes became a pop phenomenon after being discovered on the Internet and becoming on of the most followed artists online. Today, he has an army of fans, a world tour that sold out completely in 2015 and performances alongside names such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

The musician was also chosen by Time magazine as one of the most influential teenagers for two consecutive years, was named by Forbes as one of the most influential people under the age of 30, and won People's Choice Awards' "Favourite New Artist" in 2016.
