Born on 30 December 1963 in Armadouro, he emigrated to France at the age of 10. In Paris, he began singing for the Portuguese community and in 1988 released his first single. He rose to fame in 1995 with the song ‘Ai Destino’ and consolidated his success with albums such as ‘Coração Perdido’ (1997) and ‘Dois Corações Sozinhos’ (1999).
In 2000, he was honoured at the Olympia in Paris; in 2008, he celebrated 20 years of his career with the biography ‘A Vida Que Eu Escolhi’, two sold-out concerts at the Pavilhão Atlântico and the release of the album ‘O Homem que Sou’, which went 7 platinum and topped the national sales chart for several consecutive weeks. In 2012, he was a judge on the ‘Ídolos’ programme and released the album ‘Essencial’, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on the most prestigious stages, such as the Olympia and Zenith in Paris, the Brixton Academy in London and all the major Portuguese venues, always sold out.
