Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have announced their first European tour for two years, during which they will hold their biggest European shows. The tour includes concerts at London’s O2 Arena, the Accor Hotels Arena in Paris, and of course, a date at Lisbon’s MEO Arena on 30th March.
Tickets (on sale for 31.00€ to 46.00€) will be available to buy from 30th October from the usual outlets. The 31 tour dates scheduled will follow on from the intimate tour taking place during January and February in the USA at some of its most historic venues.
The duo is partnering up with Plus 1 with the objective of donating 1€ from each ticket sold during the tour to the following projects: Partners in Health, Equal Justice Initiative, Youth Speaks and 30/30 Project. The band will make use of its platforms and resources to promote a discussion on topics such as equality and justice and is working together with organizations that deal with those topics.
Their single, “Downtown”, continues to climb the Billboard and radio charts, and is expected to be the band’s third hit to reach the Top 5. The song, featuring Eric Nally and hip hop trail-blazers Grandmaster Caz, Kool Moe Dee and Melle Mel, was played live at the VMAs and on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon; the video has received over 45 million hits. “Downtown” has already gone gold in the USA and has sold over one million tracks worldwide.
“Downtown” is the first single off this second record by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis following on from their debut album “The Heist”, which went platinum and received several GRAMMY awards. August this year saw the release of “Growing Up”, a song featuring Ed Sheeran. Macklemore wrote the song before his first daughter was born and the song is dedicated to her, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty.
